To pay attention to and help children in need, left-behind children, and children of dual-income families in the jurisdiction have a fulfilling and meaningful winter vacation, on February 4, with the support of the Party Committee of Qunsheng Group, the Xicheng Social Work Station, together with the Muxin Youth Social Organization, Shaoxing University of Arts and Sciences, and the Xiyuan Community, jointly planned and organized a three-day “Qingniao Spreads Its Wings—Accompanying Children’s Hearts” Qunsheng Little Seed Empowerment Winter Camp.
More than ten left-behind children and children of dual-income families from all over the country, accompanied by the Party Committee of Qunsheng Group and social workers from Xicheng District, broadened their horizons and strengthened their physical fitness through various activities, effectively boosting their self-confidence, teamwork skills, and social abilities.
In the English reading guidance class, volunteer teachers from Shaoxing University of Arts and Sciences guided the children in mastering English reading skills, fostering their interest in reading, and sparking their curiosity about the wider world as well as their aspiration for its beauty.
During the mental health guidance class, the children watched educational videos on mental health. Through the instructor’s clear and easy-to-understand explanations and some real-life cases involving adolescents, the children were guided to practice self-care, embrace themselves, and face the changes of puberty with a positive attitude. Warm seeds of hope quietly took root and began to sprout in their hearts.
In addition, there are a variety of enriching courses available, including cheerleading lessons, twisty-stick crafting, New Year’s dance classes, mini medical workshops, science experiment sessions, baking workshops, and lectures on traditional Chinese medicine and acupoint therapy for the home.
“Here, I’ve learned a lot of things that you can’t find in school textbooks. My mentor cares for us just like a mother would—her kindness makes me feel so warm.” “We should consciously strive to be polite and well-behaved young people, and when we grow up, we’ll become individuals who are truly useful to society!” The children all expressed that the winter camp’s program had been immensely beneficial to them. Not only did it give them a vivid understanding of the importance of the growth process, but it also allowed them to experience many brand-new ways of learning.
The “Qingniao Spreads Its Wings—Walking Together with Children’s Hearts” group-sponsored Qingmiao Empowerment Winter Camp has received unanimous praise from community workers and children’s parents alike. Over the years, the Party Committee of Qunsheng Group has organized a series of “Qingmiao” activities that have genuinely addressed the family hardships faced by children, providing them with safe and nurturing environments for learning and growth, thereby effectively promoting their all-round development and social integration.
