Sharing a Beautiful Moment: Plum-Picking Event Organized by the Party Committee of Qunsheng Group

It’s once again the season when bayberries ripen. To help employees fully relax and strike a healthy work-life balance, Qunsheng Group—led by its Party Committee—organized an outdoor team-building activity: bayberry picking. The event took place on a hilltop in Yongxiang, Yongkang, where the group’s farm had contracted a small bayberry grove and specially invited everyone to come and pick the ripe berries.
Yongxiang is a renowned bayberry-growing base in Yongkang. Every year from May to June, the small paths along the hillsides near the roads transform into a vibrant scenic highlight, with numerous fruit vendors lining the roadside, their stalls brimming with baskets of deep-purple bayberries.
Yangmei, known as the “agate among fruits,” is rich in nutrients and boasts remarkable health benefits, including aiding digestion, promoting gastric health, relieving summer heat, and stopping diarrhea. Its sweet-and-sour juice is a real hit among colleagues, especially in early summer. This team-building activity not only lets everyone pick and eat fresh Yangmei right on the spot—but it’s free and unlimited! Although the midday sun was blazing hot, everyone remained just as enthusiastic, armed with big baskets and small crates.
Having reached our destination, we walked through a serene bamboo grove and then climbed a short stretch uphill. As soon as our eyes fell upon the mountainside, we were greeted by a sea of red—clusters of bayberries hung from the branches, some bright red, others purplish, punctuated here and there by delicate touches of pale green. A gentle breeze carrying the sweet-and-sour aroma of the bayberries wafted gently toward our noses. At that moment, the saying “seeing plums quenches thirst” seemed to lose all meaning. As soon as our colleagues arrived at the designated picking area, they couldn’t wait to start eating and picking them at the same time.
“How sweet!” came a voice from who knew where. “Climb up the tree—those purple ones are the sweetest!” “These bayberries ripen so quickly they fall off at the slightest touch!” Ignoring the heat, they each picked their favorite spot and promptly set to work.
The blazing sun overhead seemed to ignite their passion as well. With nimble hands, they plucked and picked one by one—before long, the purplish-red bayberries were making their way from the trees into everyone’s baskets. At that moment, all work-related stress vanished completely, leaving behind nothing but contentment and joy. Departments exchanged jokes and laughter, savoring the sweet-and-sour bayberries while also bringing themselves closer together.
In just one hour, everyone reaped a bountiful harvest—each bayberry fruit was vividly colored and bursting with juicy flesh, perfectly balanced in sweetness and tartness. Filled with laughter and cheerful chatter, everyone returned home laden with heavy baskets of freshly picked bayberries. This small team-building activity allowed everyone to immerse themselves in nature and experience the joy of hand-picking bayberries firsthand, relieving the stress of daily work and providing both physical and mental relaxation. At the same time, it brought colleagues closer together and strengthened the team’s sense of unity.
Accompanied by the sweet aroma of bayberries, the June bayberry-picking event organized by the Party Committee of Qunsheng Group has now come to a successful conclusion.
