In the height of summer in July, the Xicheng Social Work Station received a plea for help from a melon farmer. A large batch of ripe watermelons had matured on a farmer’s plot in Shuiditou, Xicheng Subdistrict. Due to a lack of prior planning for sales channels, the ripening watermelons were on the verge of being left unsold and stranded in the field.
Guided by the principle of “showing care for farmers through love and boosting farmers’ income through consumption,” the Party Committee, the trade union, and all Party branches of Qunsheng immediately purchased a truckload of watermelons upon learning of this news. They then actively launched a “Cooling Care” initiative during the heatwave, distributing the purchased watermelons to frontline workers in the workshops. This gesture not only helped the melon farmers solve their sales challenges but also brought heartfelt care and warmth to the employees.
Since the end of June this year, temperatures have been steadily rising, and the sweltering heat has been testing every worker steadfastly holding the line at the production front. This truckload of green watermelons brings a touch of coolness amid the scorching summer heat.
At the workshop site, the Party Secretary of Qunsheng, secretaries of various branch offices, the chairman of the trade union, and party representatives from Yongkang City carefully carried large, round watermelons off the truck and handed them directly to the workshop employees. They also took detailed interest in the employees’ work and living conditions, reminding them to drink plenty of water during their busy work hours to avoid heatstroke.
The employees’ faces were filled with smiles as they felt both cool relief and heartfelt care. “We’re deeply grateful for the company’s meticulous attention to our well-being. In our future work, we’ll definitely remain committed to delivering high-quality products on time!”
