Recently, the Yongkang Daily published a special report titled “Finding Opportunities in Change and Paving a New Path for Transformation and Upgrading—Qunsheng Group Repeats Its Position Among China’s Top 500 Private Manufacturing Enterprises.” The following is the content of the report.

Recently, a reporter learned from the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce that the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce has released the “2023 Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises” list. Qunsheng Group once again made the list with operating revenue of 19.72 billion yuan, ranking 406th.

The “Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises 2023” list, compiled by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce based on a survey of large-scale private enterprises, is ranked in descending order according to total annual operating revenue. It is one of the most authoritative and comprehensive lists in China’s manufacturing sector. This year marks the 25th consecutive time that the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce has conducted a survey of large-scale private enterprises, covering a total of 8,961 companies with annual operating revenues exceeding 500 million yuan. According to the survey analysis report, the entry threshold for the “Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises 2023” reached 14.516 billion yuan, an increase of 1.944 billion yuan over the previous year.

In fact, Qunsheng Group has not only retained its position among the “Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises” for yet another year, but has also successively earned prestigious accolades such as “Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises,” “Top 500 Chinese Building Materials Enterprises,” and “Top 100 Chinese Private Service Enterprises.” As the only company from our city to make the list, how has Qunsheng Group achieved such remarkable success? And at this critical juncture of manufacturing transformation and upgrading, what insights can we draw from its experience? Recently, a reporter visited Qunsheng Group to explore the effective pathways for high-quality development and transformation and upgrading of private enterprises.

Three “Returns” to Strengthen Tubers

When it comes to Qunsheng Group, no one in Yongkang is unfamiliar with it. Every year, Qunsheng Group consistently ranks among the top few companies on our city’s list of the top 100 taxpayers. Yet, public awareness of this local enterprise may well stop there.

Xu Yan, deputy general manager of Qunsheng Group, told reporters that, in fact, Qunsheng Group has long since grown into a giant enterprise with diversified operations spanning the entire country.

Currently, Qunsheng Group has several subsidiaries, including Qunsheng Doors and Windows, Qunsheng New Energy, Qunsheng Real Estate Development, Qunsheng Investment, and Longyou Jupeng. The group operates multiple modern production bases across China, covering a total area of over 700,000 square meters, and employs more than 4,000 people. Over the years, the company has maintained rapid growth in various economic indicators and operational strength, and was among the first enterprises in Jinhua to be listed on the "Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises."

The “sweet potato economy” is a symbiotic economic model. The vine’s extension and expansion are aimed at enabling the tuber to grow thicker and larger. Yet, the sweet potato’s “roots” always remain firmly planted where it first sprouted.

An epidemic has had a profound impact on economic development models. How can we seize opportunities amid these changes? The astute Qunsheng Group has adjusted its course and proposed the strategic guideline of “returning to Zhejiang, returning to Yongkang, and returning to our core business.”

In recent years, Qunsheng Group has firmly focused on its core business of doors and windows, strengthening its manufacturing operations and continuously increasing its local investments to leverage its home-field advantage. A set of data illustrates this trend: In the group’s overall revenue structure, the proportion of manufacturing versus non-manufacturing businesses has gradually shifted from a 40/60 split to a 60/40 split. Within the manufacturing revenue segment, as Qunsheng Science Park and Qunsheng Industrial Park have been successively completed, the share attributable to local operations has grown year by year and now accounts for 60%.

“Moving from the Top 500 Private Enterprises to the Top 500 Private Manufacturing Enterprises can be described as both a development path and a proactive choice,” said Xu Yan. Faced with changing circumstances, Qunsheng Group has always been able to assess the situation accurately and keep pace with the times.

When the reporter opened Qunsheng Group’s official website, the first thing that caught the eye was a photograph of an aircraft carrier. Prominently displayed above the photo were the words: “Dedicated to Building a Global Hardware Aircraft Carrier.” In Qunsheng Group’s introduction, it is noted that the company is a contributing author to the “National Guidelines for Door and Window Applications in Affordable Housing,” participated in the development of the industry standard “Steel-wood Interior Doors for Buildings” issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and contributed to the formulation of the standard “Technical Requirements for Environmentally Labelled Products—Wooden and Steel Doors.” Additionally, Qunsheng Group is a contributing author to “Construction of Doors and Windows—The Steel Door Section,” a participating unit in the industry product standard “T-shaped Doors for Buildings,” and serves as the Executive Vice President of the China Wood Door Technology Alliance. This string of titles—each one a hallmark of industry leadership—clearly demonstrates Qunsheng Group’s ambitious vision to grow, excel, and strengthen its real-sector business.

Cultivate inner strength, extend the vines.

In the automated production workshop of Qunsheng Science and Technology Park, wooden doors on the unmanned, intelligent production line move as if wound up—automatically changing direction and sealing their edges. Once edge-sealing is complete, the doors are automatically conveyed to the end of the production line, where they’re picked up by suction and stacked together. In just a few minutes, a wooden door is fully manufactured, with seamless edge-fitting and precise dimensions.

“The unmanned, intelligent production line has integrated the original production processes, saving labor, enhancing product quality stability and production efficiency, and reducing production costs,” said Tan Guozhi, Deputy General Manager of Qunsheng Doors & Windows Co., Ltd. In recent years, the company has invested 180 million yuan in smart manufacturing and technological innovation, reducing labor costs by 30% to 40%.

With the continuous upgrading of technological equipment, Qunsheng Doors and Windows products are also undergoing constant iteration and enhancement. In June of this year, a brand-new, intricately carved aluminum door hit the market and immediately created a sensation. With its exquisite design and remarkable texture, as well as its meticulously crafted details and advanced features, this product perfectly embodies a new aesthetic of refined living.

“Previously, due to their complex manufacturing processes and intricate structural designs, finely carved aluminum doors commanded sky-high prices, putting many consumers off.” In Tan Guozhi’s view, the new generation of young consumers increasingly value high quality, personalization, and aesthetic appeal in home decoration. Qunsheng not only has the capability but also the responsibility to provide consumers with products and services that offer greater value for money.

Therefore, Qunsheng Doors & Windows Co., Ltd. has taken the lead in breaking away from the traditional, labor-intensive casting process for aluminum doors and windows. Drawing on the technology used in system windows, the company has refined its manufacturing processes, reduced costs, enhanced product quality, and perfectly met consumer needs.

Building on this foundation, Qunsheng Doors & Windows has also launched KLURFO, a private customization brand. Leveraging a “online traffic generation, offline service” model, it offers exclusive design and manufacturing services tailored to each individual door—“one door, one unique design.” From the moment a request is received to customer service follow-up and finally to the designer producing the product’s design drawings, the entire process takes only one to two days.

“Identifying our core competitive strengths and scaling up the industry are key to achieving steady progress,” said Tan Guozhi. Through mergers and acquisitions of high-quality door companies, Qunsheng Group has entered markets such as villa doors and comprehensive home decoration solutions. Leveraging its advantages in product R&D and sales channels, the company is extending its product chain and strengthening both upstream and downstream industries. “In the future, we will focus even more on our core business, actively pursue diversified business strategies, and enhance synergistic benefits,” said Tan Guozhi.

The sweet potato vines extend in all directions, striving to absorb more sunlight, dew, and nutrients. Beyond the vertical extension of its industrial chain, Qunsheng Group is actively building its own “Silk Road,” reaching from the Middle East to Russia and from Europe to Africa. Qunsheng Group has already established cooperative relationships with buyers in numerous countries. On its future journey of expanding foreign trade, Qunsheng will continue to strengthen and grow its “flagship” business.

“It is precisely in times of great upheaval that true heroes reveal their mettle.” Xu Yan said, “The 34-year-old Qunsheng Group will position its corporate development from an even higher starting point and with a broader perspective, focusing on the real economy and strengthening its core business, thereby making greater contributions to boosting the high-quality development of the industry.”

Do everything possible to inject new momentum into the development of the private sector.

Manufacturing is the cornerstone of the real economy and a powerful engine driving our city’s pursuit of high-quality development.

In the view of Huang Xumin, Party Secretary of the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, as the economy enters a new normal and the private sector embarks on a historic new stage of transformation and upgrading, Qunsheng Group has proactively embraced market and policy changes, continuously enhanced its business capabilities, and actively adapted to the new situation in pursuit of high-quality development. This vividly illustrates the assertion that "the private economy is the most dynamic cell in the market economy and an important driving force for promoting high-quality development." As the "family" of private enterprises, the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce will actively foster a favorable environment for their development. At the same time, it will identify and highlight advanced role models, strengthen demonstration and leadership, focus on the pressing and challenging issues that concern private enterprises, and provide them with comprehensive services—including policy guidance, legal support, investment and financing assistance, technological expertise, and talent recruitment—thereby further bolstering private enterprises' confidence and determination to grow stronger and bigger.

Reposted from Yongkang Daily’s multimedia reporter Yan Yuantao

In September of this year, Qunsheng Group once again made the list of “China’s Top 500 Private Manufacturing Enterprises,” a testament to society’s high recognition of Qunsheng, a strong endorsement of its brand, and, above all, a clear demonstration of Qunsheng’s sense of responsibility and commitment as a benchmark enterprise.

As an important force emerging in China’s economic development, private enterprises must undergo transformation and upgrading to ensure their survival and growth. In recent years, Qunsheng has been stepping onto an even broader stage.
